Fernando Alonso - Exhaust Display

Fernando Alonso - Exhaust Display

The horizontal mounted sculpture displayed here uses the race run exhausts from Fernando Alonso’s Race and Championship winning R26 Renault F1 car of 2006, designed and made by Ben Rousseau and Racing Gold.

After performing its use on the race car, we machine hand polish the external surfaces of the metal work.

Made from Inconel this exhaust is mounted on a mirror polished stainless steel frame with 5w LED light detail.

Signed and numbered.

How They Are Used

The exhausts seen here are manufactured from an ultra thin gauge super-alloy metal called

Inconel. Often used in the hot section of mainstream jet engines and more impressive rocket

engines, this expensive material is incredibly stable at very high temperatures. Formula One’s

Teams push the boundaries of technology and these exhausts are made from the thinnest gauge

possible to survive a certain milage of use. The energy expelled by a Formula One power unit

actually wear the inside of these exhausts meaning they get retired before they risk failure.

“Why not make them from thicker material?” The simple answer is weight. If the team can afford

to use and replace thinner/lighter exhausts, this may allow them to use ballast in a more optimal location.

Once retired, we have the opportunity to create pieces of art giving these amazing exhausts a new life.

Concept

To turn these highly engineered parts into collectable works of unique automotive art. With a

focus on using reflection to mirror the engineering beauty of these intricately formed and welded

exhausts. Mounted to replicate the orientation of the v10 engine from these high performance race cars.

Process

The components are polished by our world class F1 approved metal finishers to change the appearance to suit each design.

Where possible, bolts and fixing are from our extensive F1 stock.
